Hello!

Welcome to the Last Five Years blog! The idea is to try and keep everyone who can't join us at the festival up to date with any news about the show, how our performances are going and generally what's happening.

The plan is to get one company member to blog every day telling you what they've been up to maybe put up some photos - that sort of thing, we'll see how long it lasts!

Look out for some amazing blogs from myself and Associate Producer Vicki (hers will be far, far more eloquently written), and hopefully see you in person supporting our show in Edinburgh. Details about it can be found on our official website, www.lcubed.co.uk

Spoke Too Soon

Just a quick one this morn.

Apologies need to be made re. yesterday's post:
1. Jon (our other producer) would like to point out that he blew up all the balloons and decorated for Vicki's party, sorry Jon.
2. The second apology is for my complete lack of meteorological etiquette - praising the sun. Poseidon has now sent his unrelenting wrath upon Edinburgh and for this I am truly sorry.

Apologies over and a brand new day ahead (cue The Wiz soundtrack).

So here's to another blustery day in Edinburgh, to watching our posters and flyers fluttering off down the Mile and to Christopher Robin constantly circling my brain proclaiming, "Tut-tut, it looks like rain".

Only one way to wrap up this ridiculous blog and that is to quote the much loved musical 'Piramania!'.....

"AAAAH THE FRINGE!"

BIRTHDAYS, BENCHES, FIREWORKS AND SUNSHINE!

Ladies and gentlemen of the Fringe 2010!

It has been a very long while since the last blog (and the bruising on my hip and leg has finally vanished, though the bench is still a dodgy moment every evening).

So we're well over halfway through the run now, the cast for Songs For A New World were in last night and were an amazing audience, can't wait to see they're show.
We only have nine performances left, so make sure you catch us before the fringe comes to an end.

22.30 nightly - C Aquila (top of the mile @ Johnston Terrace) and when you leave there is an added fireworks display! (Ok this is the Tattoo, not us, but it's still an eye dazzling bonus!)

Last night was Vicki's, one half of our production team's, 21st birthday! We hit up the Broadway Bar at C Main and were joined by the ever so talented cast of Edges whom we, as a company, have a slight crush on.
The night was fun filled, dance driven and alcohol induced topped with party rings, Pringles and cocktail sausages (an old school birthday party in all its glory).  A special shout out to the C Staff for allowing us to have our own room, which was decorated with banners and balloons! Cheers!

The next day has reared it's head and everyone seems surprisingly awake and prepared for another day of flyering, considering rolling through the door at 5.30am!
The new found energy may come from the fact that there is not a grey cloud in sight...
SUN IS SHINING, WEATHER IS SWEET HERE!

Latest Addition: Acrobatics!

Hey guys!

Ben (Red Jamie) here! Thanks for all your support since we've
started, had quite a few sell out shows now and got advanced bookings
for every date which is amazing!
The show is going from strength to strength...however...last night
seen an acrobatic stunt added to the show!
During Shiksa Goddess, I took to the stage a little more excitable
than before, when I ran for the bench from an unusual angle....

...the bench went back...

...I went forward...

...did a roly poly across the stage...

...jumped up, carried on singing (missing only a few words in the
process)...

...the band kept playing (with horrified faces), as some of them
nearly lost limbs due to the bench flying...

...and the show carried on...

...for as a good friend often says to me "That's the magic of theatre
darling! The show must go on!"

A few titters and gasps from the audience and a bruised hip later,
everything is now fine, but I think I've developed a fear of benches!
Apart from this the show is running great, but Alex (Blue Jamie) is
literally feeling blue and ill at the moment so get well soon!

Therefore tonight will be the first crossover cast show:

Cathy - Branwen
Jamie - Ben

See you all tonight

The cast performs today at George Square!

Hi everyone,

Natalia here, on blogging duty for the first time!

It's breakfast time again in the L5Y flat and we're getting ready for another day of flyering. Both our casts have done two performances now and the run is going exceptionally well so far. Audiences have been nearly sold out every show and we're getting great responses from them – we're so grateful to everyone who has come along.

The main news is that TODAY at 5pm our lovely Blue Team (Alex and Branwen) will be performing a set of songs from the show in the foyer at C Plaza at George Square. Come along and get a taste of what L5Y sounds like!

We've also been trying to squeeze in as many other shows as we can, in between our flyering and show schedule. Shows members of our team have been very impressed with include 'A Midsummer Night's Madness', 'Next Thing You Know', 'The Improvised Musical' and 'Truly Medley Deeply'. The list of shows to see keeps on growing – lots of good stuff out there!

Also, our MD Paddy is playing keyboard for another show, a comedy improv piece called 'Nothing To Show'. Do check them out (http://www.watchthistheatre.co.uk/), they're a very funny and talented cast and the show is hilarious!

Thanks for all the continuing support, much love to you all.
